Methodical Random

is an iterative exploration of visual recursion and material transmutation, where my archival body of mixed-media photography is continually deconstructed and regenerated through a meticulously structured yet inherently unpredictable generative workflow.

At first, prints of my work are dissected, paired, and intercollaged before being metabolized by generative AI. Without inputting any textual prompts, the algorithms are compelled to navigate and reinterpret the raw visual DNA of my images. In a final gesture, I physically reassemble and reconstruct selected synthetic outputs back into precise hand-cut collage.

What emerges is a genealogy of images that is neither fully human nor fully machine, challenging the fixed nature of image and authorship in a technological era where photography has become increasingly ephemeral. Process and product are no longer distinct but symbiotic, locked into a metaphorical ouroboros where human vision and machine hallucination are virtually indistinguishable.

Alexander Rossa is a photographic artist based in Prague, Czech Republic. He works in a continuous dialogue using the syntax of imagery, through which he reassembles visual artifacts to forge new, comprehensive interpretations. His work often reflects a complicated and multilayered notion of truth.

While photography is his primary medium, his approach is distinctively hybrid, incorporating techniques of painting, collage, sculpture, scanography, and generative imaging. Through his art, he aims to engage viewers in a metaphorical and archeological quest to uncover the truths and perplexities within our contemporary image culture.
