Bug Dystopia

Artificial intelligence 3D scanning More-than-human Digital Ecology

Bug Dystopia (2025) is a single-channel video that stages a cross-species conversation among humans, the ramie moth, and artificial intelligence. “Bug” here refers not only to the ramie moth, but also serves as an analogy for system failure. Through AI-generated voice, on-site recordings and 3D scanning of the environment, the work reimagines the moth’s disrupted navigation misled by urban light and glass traps as an ecological error born of human design. Moving between the sensory and the technological, it asks whether ancient ecological intelligences have been abandoned or re-coded, and how disoriented movements might be transformed into alternative narratives of memory, loss, and renewal in the age of machines.
