"Robotic Synapse Adjuster with Waking & Sleep Cycles, version 7D" (2026)

machine learning K-means clustering animated visualization

"Robotic Synapse Adjuster with Waking & Sleep Cycles, version 7D" (2026), video with generated music via Java MIDI, is visualizing the machine learning structures of the K-means clustering algorithm as "the evolving brain of a robot". This machine learning algorithm groups individual objects, treated as data points, according to shared values for discrete features, in this case values for red, green, and blue in the red-yellow-green-cyan-blue-magenta-white-black color wheel. Other features such as object shape and detail are available but not used in this visualization. Originally built as a tutorial for K-means clustering variants, the artist uses 3D coordinates for the 8 color combinations to visualize the clusters. 3D locations are not part of the discrete object features; this composition uses them for animated visualization. The sequence of three robotic "brain reorganizations via machine learning" show the effects of increasingly stronger initialization algorithms.
