Sheffield Park "Double Dose" Dreamscape

2023

This artwork was one of twelve produced for AI and the Landscapes of Capability Brown, my first solo exhibition in London (Oct-Dec 2023). It was originally presented as a 72" x 72" fabric print and is intended to convey the visual, visceral, and cognitive experience of this English landscape garden. It is my thesis that great landscapes are not only seen; they also make you feel and think. The act of translating that multi-dimensional human experience of time/space/emotion into a two-dimensional art object requires bounds, a point of view, and the use of visual metaphors. I attempt to do this by combining original photography, computer graphics, and artificial intelligence (specifically, a superscaled custom-modified version of Google's DeepDream, part of a computer vision system tasked with image recognition).
