Painted Portals: AI-Envisioned Surrealist Realms (2024) The main idea I explored while creating these artworks was to provide a context for my physical paintings, elevating them into immersive experiences. To achieve this, I used generative AI (StableDiffusion) to create infinite-zoom videos starting from photographs of two of my original paintings. These animations serve as dynamic extensions of the paintings, expanding them into their own dimensions and crafting narrative universes around them. As the videos progress, they gradually become more and more abstract. This evolution symbolizes the process of idea generation and subconscious exploration, reflecting the nature of creative thought. I also integrated Augmented Reality into the artworks: viewers can trigger the videos by pointing their phone cameras at the physical paintings. This adds an interactive layer to the experience, bridging the gap between traditional and digital art forms. Both paintings draw inspiration from the idea of plants being conscious. I painted flowers with eyes to symbolize awareness, challenging conventional views on consciousness. For the first artwork, the context is represented by a cafè, the quintessential meeting place for Surrealists and other artistic and literary movements, where ideas are born and take shape, creating new worlds. For the second artwork, instead, I chose the context of a cabin in the woods where people go to engage in shamanic experiences with the goal of expanding their consciousness and exploring their inner worlds.   For more insights into the process, you can read my article "Infinite Zooming on My Paintings with Stable Diffusion".
