Fracture is a series of digital images that blend generative AI, glitch aesthetics, and LiDAR builiding scans. Generative AI uses artificial intelligence models to create new, original images from text descriptions or other inputs. Glitch artworks emphasize error, artifact, and disintegration. LiDAR, or Light Detection and Ranging, is a kind of 3D scanning that allows for highly accurate structural mappings.
By overlaying the accuracy of high-precision, data-driven LiDAR scans with the speculation of generative AI and the distortion and fragmentation of glitch, Fracture juxtaposes a set of highly accurate spatial measurements with unstable retrieval and unintended artifacts. The series also compares three wide ranging philosophies of image making.
