Treman Woods Time Split (2024)
This artwork was one of twelve produced during my summer 2024 artist residency project undertaken at the Cornell University Program of Computer Graphics. The goal of this residency was to develop a new art project called Dreamscape Memories, which attempts to advance my work beyond representing how great landscapes are experienced into the realm of how such landscapes are remembered. These artworks recall my own experience 40+ years ago when I was a student at Cornell and discovered a love of landscape, a passion for photography, and an interest in experiencing such landscapes on psychedelics. The artworks produced employ a combination of AI-induced “dreaming” effects and graphic manipulations as a visual language to express specific aspects of experiencing and recalling special landscapes. Treman Woods Time Split is about competing memories, which can arise when recalling a place that’s been visited multiple times. The two source panoramas used in this artwork were captured from the same spot 10 years and 3 seasons apart. This artwork is intended to be produced as a unique (1/1) 96″ x 156″ backlit fabric print.
