Artist Bio:
We (Bomin Kwon, On Lee, Tongtong Li, Yoonah Song) are as a team, currently working on using AI tools to create an image of a world that is abstract, and doesn’t exist in the real world.
AI is often referred to as a compilation of human prejudices. For example, if AI builds prompts within the data it has learnt, the result will be specific enough to resemble a photograph. But when someone writes prompts with word combinations that are outside of its learning system, AI generates very disparate, but also interesting images.
We reversed this normal process of computing images from the data that AI has – so to speak, like hacking. By using the intriguing images that AI generates when asked to depict things that doesn’t exist in own data, we explored new expressive possibilities that deliberately exclude realistic and explainable images.
In our first experiment <Fetal Movement>, the hacked prompts allow us to indirectly experience the process of reversing our perceptions and sensory systems to perceive the world around us. We created a new alternative temporality, by combining AI-generated images, and video with 2D animation, which provides an audiovisual experience that explores the invisible world of sound mutations, their resonance, dissipation, and organic chronicle.
