Maps of Home no.6 (2024)
In “Maps of Home no.6,” I delve into my childhood, rooted in the verdant expanses of the family farm that shaped my early years. This artwork is a key piece in my series that merges AI, 3D fractal formulas, and poetic storytelling to capture the textured layers of rural life.
Utilizing fractal mathematics to manipulate the latent space of generative AI, I craft landscapes that are not only complex and richly detailed but also rendered at an extraordinary resolution. The technique allows for the creation of images with practically unbounded resolution, and the image presented here spans about 3 gigapixels. This scale far-surpasses current resolution constraints in AI generated imagery, offering a deeper immersion into the scene depicted.
The visual narrative is driven by a poem that serves as the prompt for the AI’s creative process, reflecting on the dualities of farm life—the vast openness and the intimate solitude. The poem weaves through the visual intricacies, adding layers of narrative and emotional depth to the imagery.
“Maps of Home no.6” invites viewers into a world where technology and art converge seamlessly, where nature and nurture are interwoven, and where every texture and hue is imbued with personal memory and broader human significance. This piece not only revisits the landscapes of my upbringing but also meditates on the universal themes of origin, belonging, and the profound simplicity of returning to one’s roots.
